Now a rather well established cruise on the calender of Perth's Hot Rod and Kustom scene, the Cranksters Pipeline Picnic heads out to Mundaring each year. The Cranksters pre-sell the majority of entries for this event to ensure that it doesn't become too crowded in the space around the Mundaring Hotel.



We headed up to Mundaring to check out all the sights of the Cranksters 2011 Pipeline Picnic, and you can find all the photos here.

Each year, the ACE Ford car club hold their annual cruise night. For as long as I can remember, this cruise has met in the carpark at Curtin University in Bentley. This year, several hundred cars took part in the cruise, which this year wound up at the Alcoa Social Club.



We tagged along to get a few photos of the participants at Curtin, at Alcoa and also on the Cappuccino Strip in Fremantle. You can find all the photos from the 2011 ACE Ford Club's Annual Cruise Night here.

Big Al's Poker Run is an annual event that is over 30 years old, and caters primarily for Muscle Cars and Hot Rods. Around 1000 cars gathered at the start point, overlooking the Swan River, before heading off gathering playing cards from a number of checkpoints before regrouping at their final destination.

The annual Armadale Auto Parts Open Day is a great opportunity to check out one of the largest hot rod, custom and street machine gatherings in Perth's southern suburbs. Al Smart and the Armadale Auto Parts crew, with the help of the Cranksters Rod and Custom Club close off a large portion of Gillam Drive for the show and are rewarded for their efforts with several hundred of Perth's coolest cars lining the streets around Armadale Auto Parts.

The GoodFella's Yanchep Picnic is still a relatively new event on Perth's motoring calendar, but it's definitely one not to be missed. Hundreds of Hotrods, Street Machines and American Classics descend upon the Yanchep National Park for an afternoon on the lawns around the Yanchep Inn.

The second annual Cranksters Winter Madness was held over the 2010 June long weekend at Ferret Boilermaking in Welshpool. Members of several Western Australian and Victorian Hot Rod Clubs joined together to work on Cranksters member Blacky's 57 Chevrolet.

The annual Super Model Car Sunday show was held at the West Coast Street Rod Club's Malaga clubrooms on Sunday July 11th. This years Super Model Car Sunday was the 12th running of the event, with over 800 models entered for the day, as well as trade stands and other entertainment on offer.



The first thing most people will notice when they arrive at Super Model Car Sunday is that there is always a good collection of Hot Rods and Kustoms outside the show, and many will spend hours walking around the streets checking out the full size show before they head inside to see the miniatures on display.



The cars on display inside ranged from crazy custom built cars that could only exist in model form to hot rods, street machines and kustoms and a wide range of exotics as well as a selection of race cars. Also on display were several model trucks, both static and remote controlled. Some local remote control enthusiasts also braved the cold weather to put on displays with their RC trucks and drift cars. Two of my favourite cars on display were the nostalgia style funny cars shown on this page.

The ASRF Sandgroper Nationals are an event held on an irregular basis in WA. The ASRF Nationals are held every second year, with a Regional Nationals held on the other years, when these regional nationals are held in WA, they're known as the Sandgroper Nationals.



The last time that WA held a Sandgroper Nationals was 6 years ago, and the event was held in Bunbury. This year, the event was held in Busselton, over the Easter long weekend. Over 70 cars made the trek from the east, including such legends of Australian Hot Rodding as Norm Hardinge and Rod Hadfield.

The Cranksters Pipeline Picnic is an annual event run by the Cranksters Rod and Kustom Club in Western Australia. The day starts with a cruise up to Mundaring followed by a show and shine in the area surrounding the Mundaring Hotel.

Motorvation 24 was held over the weekend of January 16th and 17th, at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia. Over 800 cars packed into the Motorplex pits for WA's biggest modified car show.



The Miss Motorvation competition is only a few years old, but is definitely a crowd favourite. This years winner was Samantha Schoers.



RAWR was one of the invited feature cars this year, and came straight from Summernats in Canberra to appear at Motorvation.



The Miss Motorvation finalists travelled in style in this stunning 57 Chevrolet limousine.



George Separovich was on hand in NUTTR, keeping the crowd entertained with some impressive burnouts.

The Armadale Auto Parts Open Days have grown from a small gathering of a few mates from some of Perth's Hot Rod Clubs, into one of the bigger open air shows in WA. Over 300 hot rods, street machines and kustoms packed into Gillam Drive in Kelmscott on the 29th of November for the 2009 Open Day.

The GoodFella's Hot Rod Club Yanchep Picnic, is one of Perth's best Hot Rod and Custom events, a strict cut off to keep the newer cars out ensures a great mix of hot rods, customs and classic streeters.



The Picnic is a very laid back event, with only one award, the Publicans Choice. Meanwhile, spectators and entrants have a choice of eating at the Yanchep pub, only a short walk away, or cooking at one of the many bbq's supplied.

The 2009 Super Model Car Sunday model car show was held at the West Coast Street Rod Club's clubrooms in Malaga on the 12th of July. As often happens at Super Model Car Sunday, the streets around the clubrooms were filled with Hot Rods, Street Machines and Kustoms.



Inside the clubrooms, the tables were lined with some of the finest model cars you've ever seen, which is appropriate, considering this is one of the largest model car shows in Australia.

In the depths of winter, while most of us were huddled inside trying to keep warm, the Cranksters Rod and Kustom Club gathered at Ferret Boilermaking, along with most of Perth's Hot Rodding community, to attempt to build a Hot Rod under the National Street Rod Guidelines, within the space of a weekend.
